SURVEYING

We undertake Duty of Care Surveys using Pear data capture and surveying software.

We provide surveys, reports, and management plans for a wide variety of clients and needs. Our tree risk assessment always starts with understanding our client priorities including safety, aesthetic and risk areas. The survey will be based on a visual appraisal from ground level, it is possible that aerial inspection and or other internal structural analysis of specific faults could be recommended, and this would be defined in the report.

 Any ecological assessments of specific trees may be required to ascertain whether protected species (e.g. Birds, Bats and invertebrates etc) may be affected.

 It is anticipated that both short term recommendations and a long-term 3 to 5 year management strategy would be appropriate, and if the survey is to be incorporated in any restoration or planting programs this detail will be crucial.  

 The information for trees detailed in the survey would include:

  • an individual or group identification number with the trees tagged for identification,
  • a site map with the trees positions plotted using GPS.
  • Species (English, Common names), an estimated height, an average measurement of the canopy spread, an assessment of the trees maturity, the trees condition and significant defects. 
  •  The action analysis report detailing recommended works along with the priority time scale and costs to carry out the recommended works.

WHEN IS A SURVEY NECESSARY?

Anyone who owns or manages land containing trees has a legal duty to ensure that they are in a satisfactory condition so that foreseeable damage does not occur due to tree failure. (Occupiers Liability Act 1954/1980). Our proactive tree management plans help landowners to fulfil their “Duty of Care”.
